Doctrine and Covenants  90:3-5
Verily I say unto you, the keys of this kingdom shall never be taken from you, while thou art in the world, neither in the world to come;
Nevertheless, through you shall the oracles1 be given to another, yea, even unto the church.
And all they who receive the oracles1 of God, let them beware how they hold them lest they are accounted as a light thing, and are brought under condemnation thereby, and stumble and fall2 when the storms7 descend, and the winds7 blow, and the rains7 descend, and beat upon their house.
Book of Mormon 2 Nephi 27:1-5
But, behold, in the last days, or in the days of the Gentiles--yea, behold all the nations of the Gentiles and also the Jews, both those who shall come upon this land and those who shall be upon other lands, yea, even upon all the lands of the earth, behold, they will be drunken4 with iniquity and all manner of abominations--
And when that day shall come they shall be visited of the Lord of Hosts, with thunder7 and with earthquake7, and with a great noise, and with storm7, and with tempest7, and with the flame of devouring fire7.
And all the nations that fight against Zion, and that distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision; yea, it shall be unto them, even as unto a hungry man which dreameth, and behold he eateth but he awaketh and his soul is empty; or like unto a thirsty man which dreameth, and behold he drinketh but he awaketh and behold he is faint, and his soul hath appetite; yea, even so shall the multitude of all the nations be that fight against Mount Zion.
For behold, all ye that doeth iniquity, stay yourselves and wonder, for ye shall cry out, and cry; yea, ye shall be drunken4 but not with wine4, ye shall stagger2 but not with strong drink4.
For behold, the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep. For behold, ye have closed your eyes, and ye have rejected the prophets6; and your rulers, and the seers hath he covered because of your iniquity.
Old Testament (KJV) Isaiah 28:5-8
In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,
And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.
But they also have erred through wine4, and through strong drink4 are out of the way; the priest and the prophet9 have erred through strong drink4, they are swallowed up of wine4, they are out of the way through strong drink4; they err in vision, they stumble2 in judgment.
For all tables are full of vomit3 and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.
Old Testament (KJV) Ezekiel 14:1-11
Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me.
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart8, and put the stumblingblock2 of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?
Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart8, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity2 before his face, and cometh to the prophet9; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols5;
That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.
Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.
For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me8, and setteth up his idols in his heart8, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity2 before his face, and cometh to a prophet9 to enquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself:
And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people6; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
And if the prophet9 be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet9, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy8 him from the midst of my people6 Israel.
10 And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet9 shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh unto him;
11 That the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither be polluted any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people, and I may be their God, saith the Lord GOD.
